Studies and Research

Stem Cells Arabia has extensively invested and continues to invest in science and research. Our research and development department consists of highly qualified scientists and researchers working relentlessly to promote and advance science to enhance current therapies. Biomedical research, specifically Stem Cell research, is a rapidly developing and evolving field. Therefore, our scientific team makes sure to participate and keep up with the latest scientific advancements and breakthroughs that can transform the face of medicine in years to come.
Generally, diseases are classified into three main categories based on the potentiality of their treatment using stem cells.

1. The first category comprises of diseases in which stem cell therapy is an approved and standard method of medical care, where stem cells have been commonly utilized worldwide and shown to be effective. This list includes: Hematological Malignancies (Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma), Hemoglobinopathies (Thalassemias and Sickle cell anemia), Primary Immune Deficiencies (PIDs) (T/B/NK/ Immune Deficiencies, Hyper IgM syndrome, Interferon gamma receptor deficiencies and MHC abnormalities), and Metabolic Disorders (Mucopolysaccharidoses and Mitochondrial Diseases).

2. The second category includes diseases in which stem cells have been widely utilized and treated patients have shown significant improvement after stem cell therapy. However, it is not approved yet as a standard method of treatment due to legal, financial, and regulatory issues. The list includes some neurological conditions (Spinal cord injuries, Cerebral Palsy (CP), and Multiple Sclerosis (MS)), infertility (Azoospermia and Premature Ovarian Failure), blindness (Optic Nerve Atrophy, Retinitis Pigmentosa, and Ocular Diseases), Diabetes (Type1 and Type 2), heart diseases (Cardiomyopathies), and some skin diseases (Psoriasis and Chronic Wounds)

3. The third category includes diseases in which stem cells have recently been shown to play a major role in improvement of the disease however their utilization for treatment remains under research and development. The list includes neurological diseases (Parkinson’s disease (PSD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) Muscular Dystrophies (Duchenne and Becker’s).

Currently there are several studies being investigated at SCA that are divided into topic-specific projects.
